Turnpike 16

  

Description

Leaves Kilmarnock on the B7038 (Glasgow Road) and then the A77 or M77 to the bounds of Ayrshire. The turnpike passed through the village of Fenwick.

In the Road Acts

1767: The road leading from Kilmarnock and Kingswell to Flockbridge.
1805: The road from Kilmarnock, by Fenwick and Kingswell to Flockbridge, leading to Glasgow, as far as in Ayrshire, passing through the parishes of Kilmarnock and Fenwick.
1827: The road from Kilmarnock by Fenwick and Kingswell to Flockbridge, leading to Glasgow, as far as in Ayrshire, passing through the parishes of Kilmarnock and Fenwick .

MS Summary

Three milestones have been found: 2 (Kilmarnock 1 mile and 2 miles) in Glasgow Road, and another in Townend Fenwick.
