B7023 to Crosshill and Dailly. Here B7023 turns to cross the River Girvan but T40b continues on the minor road to Old Dailly and then B734 to Girvan, joining A77 just north of the town. Essentially T40b stays on the left bank of the Girvan from Crosshill. |

1805: The road from Ayr by Maybole to Girvan, passing through the parishes of Ayr, Maybole, Kirkoswald, Kirkmichael, Dailly and Girvan, which road divides at the Red Brae near Maybole into two branches, one of which [a] goes by Kirkoswald, Dalwhat, Drumbeg, Curra and Chapeldonan, where it joins the old shore road between Ayr and Girvan; and the other branch [b] by Garpin Bridge and Dailly.
1827: The road from Ayr by Maybole to Girvan, which road divides at Duncanland near Maybole into two branches, one of which [a] goes by Kirkoswald, Dalquhat, Drumbeg, Curra, and Chappledonan to Girvan, having a branch [c] from Kirkoswald toll bar to the road from Ayr by Thomaston to Drumbeg near Morrieston, and the other [b] by Garpin Bridge and Dailly, passing through the parishes of Ayr, Maybole, Kirkoswald, Kirkmichael, Dailly and Girvan.
1827: To widen that part of the road leading from Ayr by Maybole to Girvan, at the Cow Vennal at the town head of Ayr, in the parish of Ayr.
