Description |
Essentially two lines of road with a common starting point at Dalrymple Bridge (over the Doon). The fork at which they part is a short distance south of the bridge. The left fork takes a minor road over Guiltree Hill to Kirkmichael and the right the B742 by Cassillis House to meet Turnpike 85 (the A77) 1¾ miles north of Maybole. In fact it is the later T85 which adopted this part of T49. |

MS Summary |
From Dalrymple to Kirkmichael: Ayr 6 to Ayr 10. From Dalrymple to Maybole: Maybole 5 to Maybole 2, and the direction stone Maybole 1¾. There was a milestone nearer Maybole on T49/T85 shown on Sheet 67 of the one inch Ordnance Survey (1964) but it is not to be found now. |

This is the milestone at the bridge in Dalrymple which is common to both lines.
